About Longfield Community Hospice Care

For over 30 years, Longfield Community Hospice has played an important part in the provision of healthcare across Gloucestershire.

Longfield Community Hospice Care supports adults with life-limiting illness from their diagnosis onwards. They help people to understand and manage their illness and support them to live well. Importantly, they support family and carers too.

They also provide a Hospice at Home service. This enables people in the last three months of life to stay at home if that is their choice. Their services include help for families to deal effectively with their grief. They also educate other professionals who are looking after people at the end of life. They sum up the benefits of what they offer as ‘Living well; Dying well; Caring well’.

All of Longfield’s services are free and most are provided at their beautiful Wellbeing Centre in Minchinhampton. Some are increasingly being offered at community venues, closer to where people live. these include Wellbeing Workshops, Fatigue & Breathlessness and Bereavement Groups.

To enable people in Gloucestershire diagnosed with life-limiting conditions to live well and die comfortably, and their families and carers to feel supported throughout and in bereavement.

Longfield’s Vision

Everyone with a life-limiting condition has access to excellent palliative and end-of-life care, and support for their loved ones from diagnosis into bereavement.

Ligneus and Longfield’s

Currently, 85% of the charity’s income comes from the general public. This income comes from their 20 shops, weekly lottery, voluntary donations and bequests. They also participate with a host of fundraising events and activities.
