What is PEFC?

PEFCPEFC stands for The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification. It is an international non-profit, non-governmental organisation. They are dedicated to promoting Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) through independent third-party certification.

PEFC is the world’s largest forest certification system. Their credible standards seek to transform the way forests are managed globally and locally. They look to ensure that all of us can enjoy the environmental, social and economic benefits that forests offer.

The organisation works throughout the entire forest supply chain to promote good practice in the forest. They ensure that timber products are produced with the highest ecological, social and ethical standards. Thanks to their eco-label, customers and consumers can identify products from sustainably managed forests.

With 39 endorsed national certification systems and more than 300 million hectares of certified forests, it is the world’s largest forest certification system.
