What is Early Years Foundation Stage?
The EYFS, or early years foundation stage, is a standard for the learning, development and care of children. It covers the ages from birth to 5 years old.
All schools and Ofsted-registered early years providers must follow EYFS. It includes childminders, preschools, nurseries and school reception classes.
What does EYFS cover?
EYFS covers a comprehensive range of areas predominantly through play. These include:
- communication and language
- physical development
- personal, social and emotional development
- literacy
- mathematics
- understanding the world
- expressive arts and design
How does Ligneus Early Years support EYFS?
EYFS sets out seven areas of learning and development as stated above. All areas require resources if your team is to cover them effectively. These resources include but are not limited to:
- toys for role play
- sensory toys
- furniture for writing, reading and mathematics
- communication and exploratory toys
Our range of products compliment these areas and help create an enabling environment.
What is an Enabling Environment?
An enabling environment is a rich and varied space. A space where risks are minimised and well managed. An environment which encourages play and interaction. Our range of products greatly enhances and supports an enabling environment.
